"PEZZI" between war ruins

I chose to bring and display my artwork "PEZZI" amidst the crumbling ruins of the WWII fortresses of Punta Rossa, a giant structure set in the south coast of Caprera, today abandoned and left to the course of Nature. These silent, rusting remnants are a stark reminder of a past that's both distant and near. As a child, I often lost myself in imagining the lives of those who inhabited these places, their dreams, fears, and hopes for the future, trying to view them through a lens free from the judgments of the present.

The project "Le verità della memoria" includes a theatrical performance, created by the Skimmers Ephraim Pepe and Luigi Bruno and featuring the music of Romina Questa. Based on real-life accounts from survivors of Nazi-fascist massacres, our story delves into events from the past. Through video interviews and a narrative that treads the fine line between fact and fiction, we challenge the audience to decide which truths they believe.

"The exhibition "Le verità della Memoria", 6-19 July 2024 at Library Bottini dell'Olio in Livorno, aims to instill in people a critical and unbiased thought process, using memory as a tool for dialogue and reflection. "We believe it is our duty to honor the memory of the victims by also speaking of truth and justice. Art is our privileged means of connecting people, of stimulating reflection, and of raising awareness of one's place in society; this is our primary role as artists." Each Skimmer presented one or more works related to memory, with particular reference to the Nazi-fascist massacres of August 1944. During the opening, we will have the pleasure of hosting Pardo Fornaciari, as a profound expert on the events of the massacres and atrocities of the Second World War."

LIVE FROM WILD - BLUE DEEP TALES Exhibition

Nature always takes everything back... Wild grass and strong shrubs embrace now the walls, crumbled by salt and wind... Mosses and insects color abandoned ruins, belonging to a distant time. Here I decided to exhibit my Blue Deep Tales paintings, in an old fort of the Second World War, in the middle of the island of Caprera, like in an open-air museum, kissed by the warm sun of an ending summer, inebriated by the scents of the Mediterranean scrub... as if Nature gave me the privilege to use this place for a day.
