Personal work - Look development / Concept Art Some concepts representing various environments during the WW2, mainly the Italian countrysides. With no action in the scenes, I focused the attention on the sense of calm of those places in contrast with the horror and barbarism that they have hosted. Between those mountains, in a countryside apparently quiet and untouched, the Partisans used to hide and organize the resistance against the fascist regime and the nazi occupation, often helped by the courageous peasants. Many small villages have been destroyed by bombs of Nazi air raids.

Romanticism moods and colors
Personal works Concept Art - Matte Painting I always thought there is a close connection between the Romanticism and the modern matte painting and concept art. The exaltation of the infinite, the search for the sublime and mysterious, as well as the exploration of feelings and sensations related to the landscape, are themes we always can find in the cinematic art too, where the landscape of the plate (sometimes just a green screen) is completely reinterpreted in order to be more harmonious and stunning, often accentuating the depth and the effect of infinite.

"Venezia" is a cartoon teaser set in Venice realized as thesis project during the master in CG at BigRock School. I managed all the environment designs and set extensions. I consider this project as a second important piece of my Matte Painting Journey.

AXIS - Realtà nella finzione - Shortfilm
Here the very beginning of my Matte Painting journey. Axis is my graduate thesis at University, a fantasy short film set in my homeland, the island of La Maddalena in Sardinia imagined and represented after a tsunami and many years with no human civilization anymore, inspired by the film I'm Legend. More than considering this as a piece of my portfolio, I wanted to mention this work as a piece of my Story, for the sentimental value that it represents as the starting point of my professional path. A special thanks to Santo Acciaro for his help and for having followed me during the shootings and the various production stages, fundamental for the success of the project, and to my family for the support and for having always believed in me in all these years.
